Sharing Our Cultures Incorporated is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the promotion of
intercultural understanding within a multicultural and bilingual Canada. Established in 1999, its projects,
programs, and events engage culturally diverse school youth in activities that enhance their academic,
sociocultural, and employability skills, as well as foster respect, acceptance, and belonging in Canada.
Project Description
The project involves engaging high school youth from diverse cultural backgrounds, including newcomer,
indigenous, francophone, and local youth, in researching information and creating artefacts about their
cultures to be presented at an intercultural community event for schools. This is a part-time position
during the weekday for $25/hour for 20 hours a week for 20 weeks from February 10 to June 27, 2025.
Job Description
We are seeking a qualified individual to fill the part-time position of Project Coordinator for the 2025
Sharing Our Cultures program and events. This involves working closely with Corner Brook Regional
High under the direction of the CEO of Sharing Our Cultures and a Steering Committee. Duties include:
• Engage school youth at Corner Brook Regional High in preparatory meetings and workshops.
• Facilitate learning sessions for youth to research, write, and present exhibits about their culture.
• Organize an intercultural event to showcase the exhibits and presentations to schools and public.
• Facilitate multicultural classroom sessions with Grade 6 students to prepare them for the event.
• Connect with government departments and organizations to host information booths at the event.
• Design event program and promotional materials for mainstream and social media.
• Submit monthly and detailed final project reports to the CEO.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate would be a graduate from a recognized postsecondary institution or would have a
combination of qualifications and experience. Criminal Record Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check,
valid driver’s license, and a reliable vehicle are required. The qualifications below are noted as desirable:
• Experience working with school children and youth and culturally diverse communities.
• Demonstrated project and people management skills.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, organizational, problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of French would be an asset.
