PROJECT COORDINATOR – PART-TIME CONTRACTUAL

Sharing Our Cultures Incorporated is a non-profit and registered charity dedicated to the promotion of intercultural understanding within a multicultural and bilingual Canada. Established in 1999, its projects, programs, and events engage culturally diverse school youth in activities that enhance their academic, sociocultural, and employability skills, as well as foster respect, acceptance, and belonging in Canada.

Project Description

The project involves engaging school youth from diverse cultures – newcomer, indigenous, francophone, and local – in researching information and creating exhibits about their cultures, which will be presented at a community event for schools and the public. This is a part-time in-person position during the weekday for $25/hour for 20 hours a week from October 5, 2026, to December 11, 2026 (10 weeks).

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified individual to fill the part-time contractual position of Project Coordinator for the 2026 Sharing Our Cultures program and event. This position involves working closely with the school administration and the CEO of Sharing Our Cultures. Duties include:

  • Engaging school youth at the school in preparatory meetings and workshops.

  • Facilitating learning sessions for youth to research, write, and present exhibits about their culture.

  • Organizing an event to showcase the youth’s exhibits and presentations to schools and the public.

  • Coordinating with school administration and students to attend the event.

  • Connecting with organizations and government to host information booths at the event.

  • Designing the event program and promotional materials for mainstream and social media.

  • Submitting weekly and detailed final project reports to the CEO of Sharing Our Cultures.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate would be a graduate from a recognized postsecondary institution or would have a combination of qualifications and experience. Criminal Record Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check, valid driver’s license, and a reliable vehicle are required. The qualifications below are noted as desirable:

  • Experience working with school children and youth and culturally diverse communities.

  • Demonstrated project and people management skills.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong work ethic, organizational, problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work with a team and independently with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of French would be an asset.
